Our Belated Honeymoon in the DR

Honeymoons are a special time for newlyweds to relax, unwind, and create unforgettable memories together. Unfortunately, due to the busy nature of wedding planning and life, some couples are unable to go on their honeymoon immediately after their wedding. My husband and I were one of those couples, but we finally got around to taking our belated honeymoon at the Secrets Royal Beach in the Dominican Republic, over Thanksgiving 2023.
Located in Punta Cana, the Secrets Royal Beach is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort that offers the perfect mix of relaxation, entertainment, and romance. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and refreshing drinks, and we knew we were in for a great experience.
The resort is surrounded by lush tropical gardens and offers direct access to a stunning white sand beach with crystal clear waters. We spent most of our days lounging by the pool (usually waking up early to save some chairs), sipping cocktails, and taking in the breathtaking views. The beach was never crowded, and we felt like we had our own private paradise.
The resort also has several pools, including a swim-up bar and a quieter pool for those who want to relax in a more peaceful setting. We loved spending our afternoons lounging by the pool and taking in the beautiful surroundings and talking to our new friends. This was a very social resort and everyone was very friendly.
The food at Secrets Royal Beach was incredible. The resort has several restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, including French, Italian, Asian, and seafood. In addition to the restaurants, the resort also has several bars serving top-shelf drinks, including an impressive selection of Caribbean rums. We loved trying different cocktails and chatting with the friendly bartenders. Upon arrival to the resort, we upgraded our room allowing us to the VIP Lounge where the bartender does really know your name, and can make a great drink!
One of the highlights of our stay was the nightly entertainment. The resort had a different show every night, including live music, dance performances, and comedy acts. We loved ending our evenings with a fun show and a nightcap at one of the bars.
The staff at Secrets Royal Beach went above and beyond to make our honeymoon special. They decorated our room with rose petals and even surprised us with a special dessert and a bubble bath! We felt so pampered and taken care of throughout our stay. Overall, our belated honeymoon at Secrets Royal Beach was everything we had hoped for and more. We came back feeling relaxed, refreshed, and more in love than ever before. We can't wait to plan our next vacation and create more unforgettable memories together.
